Olivia Mitchell has been a chef for 12 years. Having worked as an assistant food stylist and caterer, she was approached at the age of 21 to be the executive chef at La Petite Ferme in Franschhoek where she worked for six years.

She was voted one of the top 10 chefs in South Africa by WOSA and won consecutive awards for best value restaurant in the world from Conde Nast and top restaurant in Eat Out's Top 100 Restaurants awards.

She has been a guest chef at The Palace of the Lost City and the Taj Hotel in New Delhi. She has also appeared on numerous international cooking programs and various magazines.

Welcome to The Ladle Cooking School

Our cooking school is housed in a beautifully restored Victorian house in the main road of the quaint village of Greyton.

We offer a fresh approach to cooking with exciting cookery classes that emphasize hands-on cookery training, top quality, local produce and inspirational teaching. Our half, one- day or week-end courses are designed to suit beginners as well as experienced cooks, and our professional chef tutor will inspire you to cook with imagination, passion and enthusiasm.

All of our cookery courses incorporate expert demonstration from our Chef Tutors coupled with hands-on cookery training and each student is assigned their own workstation with stove, apron, knives, cutting boards, pots and pans, as well as all the ingredients you will require for the day. You will also be provided with course notes and recipes that you can take home after the course.
